Praėjusį savaitgalį 782-ąjį gimtadienį švenčiančius Šiaulius papildė tūkstantinis rotariečių būrys.

Šiauliuose vyko jau septynioliktoji Lietuvos Rotary apygardos didžiausia metų šventė – Rotariada. Pagrindiniai šių žaidynių tikslai – išaiškinti pajėgiausias komandas ir pavienius asmenis tarp Rotary klubų ir jų narių atskirose sporto šakose, maloniai ir prasmingai drauge praleisti laiką, bendromis jėgomis paremti Lietuvos neįgaliųjų kulkinio šaudymo čempionę, kandidatę į Tokijo parolimpines žaidynes 2020 metais Raimedą Bučinskytę.

Įkvėpti ir padrąsinti visų Rotariadoje atvyko Seimo narė, šachmatų didmeistrė Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, kuri yra 2000 ir 2004 metų šachmatų olimpiados aukso, 2006 metų pasaulio moterų čempionato bronzos medalių laimėtoja, 2011 metų Europos moterų šachmatų čempionė. Chaimo Frenkelio viloje šachmatų didmeistrė surengė simultaną su Rotariados dalyviais.

Keturiolikoje sporto šakų vykusiose varžybose iš tiesų netrūko sportinio azarto, įtampos, nes jose dalyvavo net 52 Rotary klubų nariai, svečiai iš Ukrainos, Lenkijos, Rusijos. Pernai Alytaus rotariečiai tenkinosi kuklia septyniolikta vieta, o šiemet Alytaus vardas skambėjo kur kas dažniau – surinkę 53 taškus, alytiškiai užėmė aukštą šeštą vietą. Nuo penktą vietą užėmusio Kauno Hanza Rotary klubo atsilikta vos 0,75 taško.

Komandinėse varžybose bene labiausiai džiugino gatvės krepšinio rungtyje iškovota antra vieta – Marius Jasaitis, Kęstutis Jasmontas, Saulius Ivoška ir Remigijus Vičiulis. Beje, Marius, Saulius, Remigijus ir Dainius Juozaitis išvakarėse boulingo (medtakio kėglių) varžybose pelnė šeštą vietą.

Lauko teniso vyrų dvejetų varžybose nenugalimi pasirodė Gintaras Kručkauskas ir Antanas Krutulis, asmeninėse varžybose Gintaras tapo nugalėtoju, Antanas iškovojo šeštą vietą. Moterų lauko teniso varžybose alytiškei Tatjanai Kravčenko atiteko ketvirta vieta.

Stalo teniso rungtyje Jonas Kuklys buvo šeštas, Alytaus Rotary klubo prezidentas Romas Baziliauskas – aštuntas. Golfo rungtyje ketvirta vieta atiteko Karoliui Aleknavičiui.

Rotariada – sporto, bendravimo ir geros nuotaikos Rotary šeimos renginys, vykstantis nuo 2002 metų. Sekmadienį rotariečiai išsiskirstė pradėję laukti 2019 metų Rotariados, kuri turėtų vykti Klaipėdoje.
