Per Lietuvą slenkanti karščio banga reikalauja ištvermės ne tik iš žmonių – aukšta temperatūra kelia pavojų ir augintiniams, tad šeimininkai turėtų būti itin atidūs, ypač palikdami gyvūną įkaitusiame automobilyje. Lietuvos policijos atstovų teigimu, pareigūnai gauna iškvietimų dėl automobiliuose karštomis dienomis paliktų užrakintų augintinių. Už tokį neatsakingą elgesį su keturkoju jo šeimininkui gresia baudos, galinčios siekti kelis tūkstančius eurų.

„Konkrečios gyvūnų laikymo sąlygos nėra detalizuotos Lietuvos Respublikos gyvūnų gerovės ir apsaugos įstatyme – jas nustato kiekviena savivaldybė, – aiškina Lietuvos policijos departamento Viešosios policijos atstovas Gintaras Mažintas. – Pavyzdžiui, Vilniuje galioja draudimas laikyti gyvūnus uždaroje transporto priemonėje arba patalpoje be gryno oro ar be ventiliacijos, taip pat – palikti augintinius lauke esant ekstremalioms karščio bei šalčio sąlygoms. Žiaurus elgesys su gyvūnu užtraukia baudą nuo 50 iki 1200 ar net 1750 eurų, jei nusižengta pakartotinai. Dar didesnės baudos arba gyvūno konfiskavimas numatytas, jei jam gresia žūtis ar suluošinimas.“

Parduotuvių tinklo KIKA veterinarijos gydytojos ir farmacijos vadovės Kamilės Ausmanės teigimu, temperatūra automobilyje vos per 20 min. tampa net 15 laipsnių aukštesnė už lauko temperatūrą, o augintinis nuo šilumos smūgio gali žūti vos per ketvirtį valandos. Specialistė atkreipia dėmesį, kad mylimus keturkojus atidžiau reikėtų prižiūrėti ir namuose: pasirūpinti, kad vandens dubenėlis visada būtų pilnas, apšlakstyti gyvūną vandeniu, esant sąlygoms – parūpinti augintiniui maudyklę, suteikti galimybę pailsėti ant vėsaus pagrindo, pavyzdžiui, betoninių grindų. Jei šuo laikomas lauke, pavėsio užtikrinimas – būtina sąlyga gyvūno gerovei.

„Jeigu pastebėjote, kad jūsų mylimas keturkojis pradėjo greitai, bet negiliai kvėpuoti, blaškytis ar atvirkščiai – prarado judrumą, tapo mieguistas, o jo koordinacija sutrikusi, visų pirma pagirdykite ir atvėsinkite gyvūną, o tuomet kreipkitės pagalbos į veterinarijos gydytoją, – pataria K. Ausmanė. – Ypač daug pavojų tyko vaikštant lauke ar poilsiaujant gamtoje, kai augintinis neturi galimybės atsivėsinti šešėlyje ar periodiškai gauti švaraus ir vėsaus vandens.“

Poilsiaujantiems gamtoje su šunimi K. Ausmanė pataria pasirūpinti specialiai jiems sukurtomis vėsinančiomis priemonėmis:

Nešiojama gertuve ar dubenėliu. Pasirūpinti švariu ir vėsiu vandeniu iškylos metu tiesiog būtina. Negavęs pakankamai skysčių šuo pradės dehidratuoti, iškils pavojus jo sveikatai.

Vėsinančiu kilimėliu ar guoliu. Ant įkaitusios žemės gyvūnui gulėti nepatartina, todėl keturkojui gali pagelbėti vėsinantys guoliai ar kilimėliai. Jiems nereikia elektros ar baterijų, o gyvūnas atvėsinamas net kelioms valandoms.

Vėsinančiais žaislais. Gyvūnų prekių gamintojai sugalvojo būdą, kaip atvėsinti augintinį pasitelkiant žaidimą. Specialūs guminiai žaislai atšaldomi šaldiklyje arba pripildomi vėsaus vandens. Grauždamas kamuoliuką, kaulą ar kitos priimtinos formos žaislą šuo atsivėsina ir kartu atsigeria.

Specialistai atkreipia dėmesį, kad iškylaujant gamtoje svarbu neužsimiršti ir stebėti, kaip elgiasi ir jaučiasi gyvūnas. Apie savo savijautą jis nepraneš, todėl, kad smagi kelionė nesibaigtų nelauktu vizitu pas veterinarijos gydytoją, svarbu iš anksto pasirūpinti keturkoju.
